2. ALBERTA SENIORS BENEFIT PROGRAM

WHAT IS IT?
Provides a cash payment and/or a full or partial subsidy of the Alberta Health insurance premiums.

WHO IS ELIGIBLE?
You must:
- be aged 65 years or older; and,
- be a resident of Alberta when you apply and have lived in Alberta for at least 3 months; and,
- be a Canadian citizen or have been lawfully admitted into Canada for permanent residence; and,
- have an income within the limits allowed by the program.

WHAT ACTION IS NEEDED TO RECEIVE IT?
Applicant must apply when reaching age 65. If you are already registered with The Alberta Health Care Insurance Plan, an application requiring proof of age will be sent to you automatically. Otherwise, senior citizens should call Alberta Seniors Benefit Program 1-800-642-3853 or 780-427-7876 in Edmonton.
